Chapter Meeting: Navigating Difficult Conversations for Stronger Teams and Resounding Success
Navigating Difficult Conversations for Stronger Teams and Resounding Success
- As project management experts, we have the process down. That is the easy part. People are the difficult part. Many conversations are natural and productive. But it is the difficult conversations that matter most. Oftentimes, the success of a given project depends solely on our ability to handle difficult conversations.
- When done right, difficult conversations can build alliances, foster collaboration, and motivate. But when project managers avoid or mishandle difficult conversations, the consequences can be devastating.
- In this interactive conversation we will explore some of the common difficult conversations for project managers, their audience, objectives, and success criteria. We will discuss personalities involved and what actually makes those conversations difficult.
- Then, we will explore techniques for handling difficult conversations with great success and share good, bad and ugly stories from our experiences.
