Leading Yourself and Leading Others:
Understanding the Impact of Leadership Style
Dr. Lori Coakley
This 90-minute session is an extremely interactive and engaging application of the “Styles” framework that allows participants to consider their approach to management, as well as the implications for their team and their business.
As you know from your life and work experience, people tend to behave in certain repeatable patterns. These patterns tend to be seen by others as our M.O., the way he or she is, or our style. At work, these predictable patterns shape how others respond to us, what they will and won’t do for us, and how they feel about us. Style is our shorthand for these patterns.
Many managers have found it useful to have a framework for understanding how people see them, how they typically interact with others, and how their employees interact with each other. The purpose of this workshop is to understand what your leadership style is, to enhance your awareness of factors that influence your leadership style and learn what other styles exist and how to interact with people having those styles.
